    Not necessarily true for all units. Contactors don't go bad often. Maybe a bug nest or something keeps it from going in.

    I wouldn't even bother. You need a new system. It's a R-22 system. I'm not going to try to fix something, and then after I get it done. Somebody pissed off with me because it doesn't work. And they spent all that money! 😂

    Are there any companies in Massachusetts or the Rhode Island area that can replace a thru-the-wall AC unit for a tennant of mine? I've called several companies, but every place says they either only service their own products or only handle central AC units. Thanks

    do you have to do anything to the exterior or interior to waterproof it if the new unit is smaller than the old one/old sleeve?

    Are contacters universal on AC units?

  • @joshuanelson-xi8fc
    @joshuanelson-xi8fc 14 днів тому

    Could you place a smaller Thru the wall (non slide out chassis) AC unit into an existing case instead of another smaller slide out chassis unit? Is there any long term issues with using an existing case with a smaller slide out chassis unit, like performance, extra condensation build up, the unit having a shorter overall life?

    • @louietheboilerman
      @louietheboilerman 14 днів тому

      You could re-use the old sleeve as long as the new unit is smaller or the same exact size and it's also a wall thru ac unit not a standard window ac unit. also sense the new ac unit is smaller your are going to have to fill in the gaps and seal the gaps on the left or right and or top of the ac or all 3 sides. Why? because the unit is smaller and also you dont want to lose cooling and have bugs come in the apartment. You can use foam insulation, aluminum tape and or plexiglass. Plexi glass is more expensive however it lets sunlight in and looks good but thats a matter of preference.

  • @Wiyaka-oj3og
    @Wiyaka-oj3og 15 днів тому

    I just installed one into my apartment wall unit. Is the frame supposed to be off since it sits into the sleeve ?

    • @louietheboilerman
      @louietheboilerman 14 днів тому

      You can still re-use the old sleeve. As long as the unit fits and its a wall unit ac. It's not going to be an exact size. If you can get an exact size great but usually it's smaller which is why you can put it through the existing sleeve. Just make sure its a wall thru ac unit because wall unit ac is slightly different from a standard window ac. Usually its just the louvers. Which makes sense because if its a wall ac the air needs to vent from the back and a standard window ac has louvers on the side to take in fresh air and blow back in the rear. That's what makes it different

    Megapress has made these completely obsolete. Got a leak at a fitting? Just cut the pipe 3 inches away and unthread and redope then reassemble with a slip coupling over the cut and press. Done in 5 minutes. I just got called in on a new 1in gas service where the previous guy forgot to tighten the 2nd nipple in a 300ft run of pipe then ghosted the customer whrn it failed pressure testing. Other plumber wanted 4k to disassemble the entire run. I did it for a minimum service call plus 75 for the slip coupling. Saved her 2 days and 3600 bucks.

    Do they have to be identified with a tag or marking so the next person knows that there is a joint that can split the line? I would be pissed to cut the line and then find that coupling 6 inches over.

    • @louietheboilerman

      Yes. Why? because there is sludge in the tank and the oil line is 3/8". If the oil filter is dirty what do you think the oil line looks like? So its best practice to blow out and clear the oil line every time you do a tune up

    I’m upgrading from oil to gas steam and I was recommended the feeder but a friend who’s a master plumper advice to steer away from the automatic feeder because they could flood the house if it’s stays open or fail , is this true? Is there a way to use and avoid this issue ? Thanks

    • @louietheboilerman
      @louietheboilerman Місяць тому

      For starters can that happen? The answer is Yes! very rare but it can and in my experience doing this for years what a couple of times. Unless you want to keep going up and down the stairs especially when its cold out and or when your going on vacation to go downstairs to manually feed the boiler. We install automatic water feeders in every job we do and not once has anyone called me to say they are getting stuck and over feeding. Everything nowadays is automatic. The water feeder is electric so the chances of it hanging up is very unlikely now if your installing an old style mechanical water feeder like an Mac Donald Miller 101 water feeder yes that has a better chance because its a more of a mechanical water feeder. It's still electric but mechanical and no one uses that style feeder anymore so I would always advise to install an automatic water feeder. No one wants to do anything manually and why not automatic. It will make your life so much easier.
